Description
The Famed Nobilis is an advanced electric hospital bed designed for intensive care units. The three-post structure provides stability and functionality that adapts to the requirements of therapeutic positioning. Lateral tilting facilitates patient care, reduces staff workload and, when combined with the right mattress, helps prevent and treat pressure ulcers. A radiolucent mattress platform, an integrated weighing system and special cutouts at the end of the bed for easier patient access are just some of the features of this advanced hospital bed.
COMFORT AND SAFETY
The three-post structure guarantees stability and safety, while the full-length side rails protect the patient from falling out of bed, even at extreme lateral tilt angles and with a mattress thickness of 230 mm. The control panels located in the side rails allow the patient to easily adjust the bed position or call for help. The even spacing between the side rails eliminates the risk of fingers and hands getting trapped. Sensors prevent lateral tilting when the side rails are lowered, thus protecting the patient from falling out of bed. pSilver™ technology guarantees bacteriostatic protection in all plastic and lacquered parts of the bed and helps to combat hospital-acquired infections. The unlocked wheel alarm, patient exit alarm and low battery alarm alert medical staff to potential risks.
PATIENT THERAPY
The lateral tilting allows for the use of positioning therapy aimed at regulating muscle tension, stimulating the nervous system, preventing pressure ulcers and improving lung ventilation and organ perfusion. The system for very early patient mobilization supports recovery, and the special VEM control panel on the side rails makes it easier to get out of bed. The backrest angle indicator on the mattress platform frame and the 30 degree position indicated on the central panel allow staff to position patients in a position that facilitates gas exchange. The intuitive control system provides access to therapy positions at the touch of a button on the central control panel. The lockable bed ends in the frame provide adequate stability and allow safe patient mobilization. The dual autoregression function reduces excessive pressure in the lumbar region and calves when sitting and helps prevent the formation of pressure sores.
FUNCTIONS
The three-post structure guarantees a maximum load capacity of 250 kg. The special cutout in the head section facilitates intubation and other interventions affecting the patient’s head or chest. The built-in certified weighing system with an accuracy of 100 grams allows monitoring of patient weight fluctuations. Various controls make patient positioning easy, and the optional leg system allows for bed position adjustment and patient care at the same time. The built-in battery ensures that the bed remains operational during transport or in the event of a power outage. The special X-ray cassette tray with scales facilitates the correct positioning of the cassette relative to the patient’s body, while the HPL mattress platform ensures X-ray transmission. Famed Nobilis is compatible with patient lifts and other equipment to be placed under the bed.
SAFETY
An advanced hospital bed that ensures the safety of patients and medical staff.
EasyDrop™ side rails
The side rails made of ABS material provide comfort and safety for the patient. The release mechanism allows for a smooth and controlled lowering with one hand. The constant distance between the handrails and compliance with the EN 60601-2-52 medical standard prevent accidental entrapment of fingers and hands.
Support for resuscitation
The clearly visible CPR arms, accessible from both sides of the bed, even when the side rails are lowered, position the mattress in a horizontal position to allow resuscitation. The removable ABS headrest can be used as additional CPR support under the patient.
Patient access
A special cutout in the head section provides quick access for medical staff during intubation and other interventions involving the patient’s head and chest. The quick lowering of the side rails and the complete or partial removal of the head section accelerate the execution of emergency interventions by medical staff.
Stability
The structure supported by three cylindrical columns guarantees stability and allows the safe implementation of therapeutic positioning protocols. Double large casters with central locking lever lock system provide protection
against uncontrolled bed movement. The optional unsecured caster alarm is activated when the bed is connected to the power supply and remains active until the locking arm is retracted.
Patient Safety Systems
Patient safety is ensured by a number of protection systems that warn medical staff of potential hazards and extreme or therapeutic positioning values of individual bed parts.
FALL PREVENTION
In the Famed NOBILIS system, several systems protect the patient from falling and warn medical staff of potential risks.
Overload Warning
A warning message appears on the scale system display when the maximum permissible load is exceeded. The system detects bed overload and helps prevent situations that endanger patient safety.
Unsecured Caster Alarm
The system notifies medical staff of unsecured casters when the bed is connected to the power supply. An audible alarm alerts staff and helps prevent uncontrolled bed movement that could endanger patients.
Patient exit alarm
When the system detects that a patient has exited the bed, an audible alarm is activated to alert staff to take action. This mechanism increases patient safety, especially for those at risk of falling or who require constant monitoring.
Side rail down alarm
The system blocks the use of the side tilt functions if any side rail is down, protecting the patient from falling and injury and the hospital from liability for potential damages.
Full length side rails
The side rails run the full length of the mattress platform to protect the patient from falling and are high enough to safely accommodate mattresses up to 230 mm thick. Anatomical handles integrated into the side rails help with safe transfers and getting out of bed.
PATIENT THERAPY
Regular transfers, very early mobilization, proper posture and the use of anti-decubitus mattresses are the most important factors in patient therapy.
Patient care comes first
The extensive control options and the ability to adapt functions to the needs of medical staff allow them to fully concentrate on patient care. The optional foot system allows for simultaneous adjustment of the bed position and other care activities, increasing staff comfort, improving care efficiency and supporting patient recovery.
Patient scale with 100 g accuracy
The patient scale system with 100 g accuracy allows for accurate monitoring of body weight, which is essential for assessing the patient’s condition, the effectiveness of clinical nutrition, and for adjusting fluid supply and medication dosage. Thanks to the integrated system, there is no need to transfer the patient to a separate scale, which increases the comfort of care and reduces the workload of the medical staff.
Mechanical and respiratory support
The bed is equipped with programmed Fowler and anti-Trendelenburg positions, as well as a function that indicates when the backrest angle reaches 30°, 45° or another value set by the staff – with the option to automatically stop the movement at the selected angle. This facilitates mechanical ventilation, improves gas exchange and reduces the risk of VAP (ventilator-associated pneumonia) and aspiration of gastric contents, which is critical for patients with feeding tubes or with swallowing disorders.
Lateral tilt
The lateral tilt allows the medical staff to adjust the therapeutic position, which helps patients recover faster. Regularly changing positions reduces pressure on certain areas of the body, improves skin condition, facilitates lung ventilation, stimulates blood circulation, and helps reduce swelling and pain caused by prolonged immobility. The lateral tilt angle is precisely adjusted via the central control panel, which displays the tilt value with an accuracy of 0.1 degrees.
Prevention of pressure ulcers
Lateral and longitudinal tilt, as well as programmed positions accessible at the touch of a button, facilitate frequent patient repositioning, thus supporting the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. Lateral tilt facilitates patient care and increases staff comfort. The use of the Famed CareSafe™ dynamic pressure mattress ensures effective care for patients at very high risk of developing pressure ulcers and the treatment of pressure ulcers up to stage IV (EPUAP).
Patient care in the intensive care unit requires measures that simultaneously support treatment and minimize movement.
The risk of complications from the disease, such as pressure ulcers, muscle weakness or thrombosis, is reduced. The most important factors are regular repositioning, early mobilization, correct posture and the use of an anti-decubitus mattress. Famed Nobilis integrates all these functions, providing real support to medical staff in their daily work.
SUPPORT FOR MEDICAL STAFF
Famed NOBILIS is the best partner in their daily work.
Reduced risk of injury for medical staff
The lateral tilting facilitates patient care without having to lift the patient, reducing the strain on the lower back, shoulder and arm muscles and the risk of spinal injuries and the associated treatment costs and absence from work.
Reduced Physical Effort
The use of lateral tilt during therapeutic positioning reduces the physical effort required by medical staff to properly position the patient, prevent pressure ulcers, provide care, and change bed linen.
Pre-programmed positions
Easily set frequently used bed positions with a single button push to save time – cardiology chair position, Fowler position, Trendelenburg position, examination position, auto contour, and emergency position.
One-handed side rails
The EasyDrop™ side rails with a release system allow medical staff to smoothly and controlledly lower the side rails with one hand. When lowered, the side rails fit as close as possible to the mattress platform, saving space on the sides of the bed.
Easy disinfection
The column-based structure, the HPL mattress platform covering more than 90% of the surface, the ABS base cover and the lacquered and plastic parts enhanced with pSilver™ technology facilitate the disinfection of the bed and prevent the spread of microorganisms.
The structure supported by three stable columns allows for a lateral tilt of up to 25 degrees in both directions. With the properly adjusted movement speed, the anti-fall system and the wide range of control options, this solution is an indispensable aid in overcoming the challenges that arise in the daily work of medical staff.
VEM Very Early Mobilization – in three steps
First phase
In the first phase, medical staff may decide to raise the backrest to a position of 30° or higher, depending on the patient’s condition, to prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). When the backrest position (up/down) is adjusted, it automatically moves to a 30 degree position and either stops or beeps to indicate to the medical staff when it needs to be stopped.
Second phase
In the second phase, the medical staff can decide to move the bed to a cardiology chair position and start the patient’s muscle regeneration program. The combination of the anti-Trendelenburg position and the lockable bed ends allows the patient to test their endurance. The built-in gas spring leg section can easily raise the patient’s legs to a position that makes it easier to put on socks and compression cuffs, or to start lower limb mobilization exercises.
Third phase
In the third phase, the patient can attempt to stand up with the help of the staff. If the patient is strong enough to try to stand up, they can use the special control panel located on the outside of the side rail. The anatomical handrail of the side rail is equipped with up/down buttons, which can be used to raise the patient to a height where he can stand independently. If the patient is too weak, the staff will need to help.
Early mobilization of patients is a key element in every modern hospital. Famed Nobilis makes it easier for patients to get out of bed and perform exercises with special VEM panels, lockable, stable bed ends and side rails with multiple safe handrails. Famed Nobilis helps patients to stand up and get out of bed, thereby helping them to regain their functional status and regain their health. For the hospital, this means faster patient discharge, as patients are close to full recovery.
